Tutorial FMCB+uLE+SMS untuk PS2

PS2 mungkin udah barang lama, tapi masih cukup kuat untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai media hiburan (selain game) di rumah ^_^

gw sendiri lebih sering make buat nonton pilem daripada nge-game

so, apa aja yang dibutuhkan dan langkah2 yang diperlukan untuk bikin ps2 kamu jadi “maenan” baru di ruang tamu ?

1. Free McBoot

ini gw pake sebagai frontend dan launcher aplikasi dari memcard, gw asumsi PS2 kalian (kek punya gw) chip-nya ga punya / ga ada dev(volution) mode buat sutostart aplikasi di memcard. oke, kalo ga ngerti apa maksudnya, berarti langsung ikutin aj

download FMCB installer 1.8b

2. uLE
file manager dan elf launcher, kali mau backup save game dari memcar ke usb ^_^
gw personally make LbFn karena gw lebih seirng mane game jepang dan butuh baca fnt jepang, but overall, uLe is the way to go.

3. SMS
media player, mula dari video, audio, bahkan image

Tutorial

Part 1 – menyiapkan untuk instalasi FMCB

1. download semua file diatas
2. extract installer FMCB ke flashdisk, lalu extract dan tambahkan file elf uLEdan SMS ke folder “install” agar otomatis dipasang saat FMCB diinstall. pastikan namanya BOOT.ELF (untuk uLE) dan SMS.ELF (sms), karena di default config FMCB nama tersbeut yang dipakai untuk uLE dan SMS (pastikan caps bener, elf tidak sama dengan ELF)



3. extract image dari uLE cd, bakar sebagai disc (CD) menggunakan imageburn atau pembakar fave lo
4. boot PS2 lo dengan cd uLE di tray
5. setelah masuk uLE (dari CD) browse ke mass, dan buka folder instalasi FMCB
6. jalankan file FREE_MCBOOT.ELF untuk menjalankan aplikasi instalasi FMCB



7. gunakan pad untuk bergerak diantara menu, format dulu MC untuk memastikan instalasi yang lebih baek
8. pilih multi install, agar CM ntar bisa dipakai boot di konsol laen yang setipe (ngga ngefek ke space yang dbutuhkan, so sekalian aja)



9. pilih “OK”, tunggu proses

10. restart dengan pilih menu launch FMCB

Part 2 – how to use


1. saat pertama boot PS2, bakal nongol logo FMCB di awal, tanda2 sukses instalasi dan FMCB jalan



2. by default, tampilan OSDSYS PS2 akan diganti oleh FMCB, buat yang nda ngerti biarin aja, uLE dan SMS sudah bakal nongol di menu, buat yang advance silahkan otak2 lagi FMCB config sendiri (ga gw sertain di turorial ini)



3. jalankan aplikais yang diinginkan, tinggal sorot aplikasi dan klik X seperti menu OSDSYS biasa. masing2 uLE dan SMS sudah bisa langsung digunakan, tapi mungkin perlu personalisasi masing2.

4. uLE ga terlalu krusial, so langsung ke personalisasi SMS, jalanan SMS

5. setelah aplikasi SMS terbuka, masuk ke menu (tekan tombol Start di gamepad)



6. yang paling penting masuk menu device, aktifkan autostart pad amedia yang lebih sering digunakan, disini ada network (kalo pake network dan stream media dari pc di jarigan), USB dan HDD. saran gw sih USB (itung2 hemat penggunan CD/DVD)



7. kalo udah jangan lupa save setting

8. untuk operasi SMS, keypad kanan kiri untuk ganti media (yang nogol diatas tuh) atas bawah untuk browse isi, X untuk play media, O untuk munculka menu “play all…”

9. have fun



yang dapat dimaenkan di SMS PS2 :
AVI (DivX/Xvid), AC3(on AVI),MP3,OGG,MPEG1,MPEG2,srt,sub

uLE can open:
JPEG, text.

supported media:
USB mass storage (USB-HDD, FlashDisk, etc), network streaming (LAN),CD,DVD, NAS-HDD.

DVD burners and DVD-Rom’s becoming cheaper day-by-day, its really convenient to backup all your movies into DVD’s or backup your mini library into compress Xvid or DivX file format. You can store as-many-as six movies into one DVD in Xvid format. Of course you can opt for new DivX players available in market, but wait, are these players good enough? I don’t think so.

Why should one opt for PS2 rather than some media player? One, you can play cool PS2 games, all the neighboring kids will envy you and befriend you. Two, you can play DVD’s, CD’s. Three, you can play DivX and Xvid file format movies. Four, you can listen to all those MP3’s that you have collected since 1972. Five, you can play all the movies from USB hard-disk.

Step 1:

You NeedHardware:

1. Playstation 2
2. Blank CD
3. USB Hard Disk (Optional)


Software

1. CD Gen PS2
2. SMS Player


Step 2:

SMS is a DivX and MP3 player for the PS2.Using SMS, you can stream movies and music right to your TV. forget about all the set-top boxes, forget about the ‘Media PC’, if you have a PS2, you have all the hardware you need.

Features of SMS include:

1. Smooth DivX AVI Playback at decent resolution
2. Pan/Scan and zooming
3. Subtitles support (SRT and SUB)
4. Visual seek (Fast Forward and Rewind)
5. Multiple language and character set support for subtitles other than English
6. MP3 Playback
7. AC3 Surround Support
8. Full resolution
9. Multilanguage
10. Copy your movies and mp3’s to your internal HDD!


SMS will read video files from a variety of sources:

1. Network Streaming
2. USB Drives
3. Hard Drives (both the Official Sony HDD and any normal PC HDD)
4. CD/DVD-ROM (and NO modchip required!)


SMS can even read DVD-RW discs specially formatted with the DVD-Video filesystem, or CD-R Discs formatted with CDDAFS without needing a modchip or any Swap tricks.

Download SMS Elf + CDGenPS2 + USB.irx + SYSTEM.cnf


Note: There are other Media players for PS2, But I chose SMS because I find it most efficient.

Step 3:

Extract the CDGenPS2 zip file to any location on your drive. Launch the CDGenPS2 exe file.



Drag all the files in the application which you have download (i.e SMS.elf, USB.irx, System.cnf)



Right click on “System.cnf” and click “Edit”, check “Fix LBA”, type 12231 in LBA “text box”



Click File->Create CD then Save



Voila! Burn to a CD (not DVD) using any of your favourite CD-Writer software.


Step 4:

Place the newly created CD into your PS2. Power On.



After the SMS player loads up. Replace the CD, with any DVD or CD which contains the DivX / Xvid or MP3’s, just browse and play the files.
