However, his slight frame, £20 million plus price and Gabriel Obertan’s emergence may count against a move to the Premier League champions.

Franc Ribéry: While Ferguson is a huge admirer of the multi-talented Frenchman, Ribéry’s proposed price means that a move to Real Madrid or Chelsea is almost inevitable. Ferguson has consistently complained of little value in the transfer market and the £45 – £60 million price tag placed on the former-Marseille winger’s head is ample evidence.

Alan Dzagoev: Rumoured to interest Real Madrid, Dzagoev is surely destined for bigger things. The CSKA Moscow player, 19, scored at Old Trafford during the 3-3 draw with United in November and has broken into the full Russian national team this season. With a one-in-three strike rate, Dzagoev would offer United not only creativity but goals from midfield too.

Attack

David Villa: Valencia’s goal-machine Villa would surely light up the Premier League. With a goal-a-game ratio at international level, Villa would complement United’s current strikers. However, a transfer might break Dimitar Berbatov’s fragile confidence and the Glazers’ bank at more than £30 million.

Jan Klass Huntelaar: Once again linked with a move to United this week, Huntelaar is available after just six months in Milan. This followed an equally short spell in Spanish football with Real Madrid. Quite why Ferguson is apparently interested, despite the Dutchman’s excellent goalscoring record in domestic football, is unclear.

Karim Benzema: The pacey, talented, great white hope of French football moved to Real Madrid in a £35 million deal this summer. Manchester - Ryan Giggs masih amat berharga untuk Manchester United. Itu mengapa 'Setan Merah' tak segan menyodori perpanjangan kontrak, yang juga disambut suka cita oleh Giggs.

Kontrak baru yang telah diteken oleh Giggs tersebut akan pembuat pemain Wales berusia 36 tahun tersebut terikat dengan MU setidaknya sampai bulan Juni tahun 2011. Giggs dinilai amat layak untuk tambahan kontrak tersebut.

"Ryan pantas dapat kontrak baru dan saya yakin dia akan bermain sampai dua tahun lagi. Penampilannya saat ini luar biasa dan dia memainkan salah satu sepakbola terbaiknya," puji Manajer MU Sir Alex Ferguson di situs MU.

Giggs sudah mencatatkan lebih dari 800 penampilan untuk klub MU semenjak debut profesionalnya musim 1990-1991. Dari periode tersebut si 'Penyihir Wales' antara lain membantu klubnya meraih 11 trofi Liga Primer dan dua piala Liga Champions.

"Aku senang sudah menyetujui tambahan kontrak setahun. Aku menikmati sepakbolaku dan menantikan untuk bisa meraih lebih banyak trofi bersama MU," ucap Giggs.

Manchester - Tomasz Kuszczak begitu gembira, menyusul kepercayaan yang mulai datang dalam beberapa waktu terakhir. Ia mengaku masih punya kekurangan, tapi siap melakukan koreksi demi tempat utama.

November silam, Kuszczak sempat mencak-mencak. Pasalnya kiper Manchester United ini sangat jarang diberikan kesempatan tampil. Ia selalu berada di bawah bayang-bayang Edwin Van der Sar dan Ben Foster.

Ketika itu, kegeraman Kuszczak bisa jadi telah mencapai puncak. Manajer Sir Alex Ferguson dan Van der Sar pun dijadikannya "sasaran tembak".

Namun dalam beberapa waktu terakhir, Kuszczak tengah ceria. Ini menyusul kepercayaan yang mulai datang kepadanya. Tercatat sejak awal bulan ini, kiper asal Polandia itu tampil dalam lima pertandingan sebagai starter.

"Saya sangat menikmati bermain reguler. Dengan begitu saya bisa melakukan sesuatu terhadap penampilan saya," ujar Kuszczak dilansir dari Manchester Evening News.

"Bermain untuk Manchester United jelas fantastis. Meski saya sempat melalui masa-masa berat yakni ketika saya tak bermain, tampil di sini selalu menjadi ambisi saya."

Catatannya pun bisa dibilang bagus. Kiper berusia 27 tahun itu dua kali clean sheet dan kebobolan dua gol. Empat menang dan sekali kalah adalah catatan yang ia torehkan.

"Saya masih melakukan kesalahan-kesalahan kecil. Jelas itu tak membuat saya senang. Saya berkata jujur tentang performa saya. Memang, saya tak kebobolan ketika melawan Wolves. Namun saya melakukan kesalahan yang membuat kami kebobolan di laga-laga lainnya," ujar kiper yang berseragam MU sejak tahun 2006 itu.

Kekurangan telah diketahui. Kini Kuszczak siap untuk memperbaiki kesalahan-kesalahan yang pernah terjadi, demi sebuah tempat reguler di bawah mistar Setan Merah.

"Saya harus bermain bagus, meminimalisir kesalahan semampu mungkin, dan tetap menjaga clean sheets."

"Saya tak pernah berpikir bahwa kesempatan tidak akan datang bagi saya. Kini waktunya bagi saya untuk bermain reguler telah tiba dan saya ingin melakukannya untuk waktu yang lama," tuntasnya.

Sir Alex Ferguson akan mencoba mendapatkannya musim panas mendatang.

Pelatih Tottenham Hotspurs Harry Redknapp yakin dirinya bisa membujuk Aaron Lennon untuk tidak pergi ke Old Trafford.

"Manchester United (MU) memiliki Antonio Valencia, pemain yang mereka dapatkan musim panas lalu. Saya kira mereka tidak butuh seorang right-winger," ujar Redknapp.

Manchester - Di perjalanan separuh awal musim ini, badai cedera beberapa kali melanda Manchester United. Meski begitu MU mengatakan tidak akan memanfaatkan jendela transfer Januari untuk menambah amunisi.

Rentetan cedera yang dialami sejumlah pemain kunci, menjadi bumbu cerita dari perjalanan The Red Devils sejak pertengahan tahun hingga saat ini. Bahkan awal Desember silam, MU kehilangan 13 pemain menjelang laga Liga Champions melawan Wolfsburg.

Bukan mustahil hal serupa bisa kembali terjadi di paruh kedua kompetisi mendatang, mengingat jadwal pertandingan yang bakal semakin padat.

Salah satu jalan keluar yang bisa dimanfaatkan MU agar bisa mengarungi situasi serupa dengan cukup mulus adalah berbelanja di bursa transfer musim dingin.

Meski begitu manajer Sir Alex Ferguson mengatakan sejauh ini belum berencana untuk belanja di bulan Januari. "Hal itu bukan bagian dari agenda kami. Personel yang kami miliki tidak buruk-buruk amat dan kami tidak berencana untuk membeli pemain," kata manajer asal Skotlandia itu seperti dikutip dari The Sun.

Real Madrid and Manchester United both want to sign Fiorentina teenage sensation Khouma Babacar, likened by some to Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba.

The 16-year-old Senegalese striker is regarded as one of the most talented youngsters in Italy, and has been at Fiorentina since the summer of 2008.

Despite his young age, Babacar is already training with the Viola first team squad and coach Cesare Prandelli – famous for developing youngsters – believes the hitman is destined for the very top.

Babacar’s talent, and form for the Fiorentina Primavera side, has not passed unnoticed around Europe, and the player’s agent has confirmed that both Real Madrid and Manchester United want the African.

Manchester - Edwin Van der Sar kemungkinan masih belum tampil dalam waktu dekat. Manchester United memberikan izin kepada Van der Sar untuk meninggalkan tim karena istrinya jatuh sakit.

Istri Van der Sar, Annemarie Van Kesteren masuk rumah sakit usai pingsan pada 23 Desember silam karena mengalami pendarahan otak. Kondisi ini membuat jiwa pasien berada dalam risiko.

Seperti diberitakan Guardian, manajer MU Sir Alex Ferguson telah memberikan izin bagi kiper berkebangsaan Belanda itu "selama yang dia inginkan" untuk mendampingi istrinya.

Agen Van der Sar, Rob Jansen menolak memberikan komentar soal keadaan yang tengah terjadi dan menyebut masalah ini merupakan urusan pribadi kliennya.

Ini berarti kiper berusia 39 tahun bakal lebih lama absen dari tugas sebagai shot stopper Setan Merah.

Manchester United Resigned To Losing Nemanja Vidic, Target Simon Kjaer & Jack Rodwell - Report
Could the Serb be on the way out?

Manchester United are readying themselves for the summer departure of defender Nemanja Vidic by targeting Everton youngster Jack Rodwell and Palermo's Danish international Simon Kjaer, according to a report from The Times.

Real Madrid are apparently confident of landing Vidic for £30 million at the end of the season, with United reportedly resigned to the fact that the Serb will leave.

Vidic's Old Trafford contract expires in 2012 and, although they may offer him a new one at the end of the season, they will not allow his current deal to run down without cashing in on him.

The 28-year-old's wife has been rumoured to be unhappy in England and wants to move to southern Europe. AC Milan and Barcelona are also reported to be interested.

Rodwell, a versatile England Under-21 international at home in midfield or the back-four, and Kjaer, are said to be the players Sir Alex Ferguson has identified as possible successors to Vidic at United.

Manchester - Manchester United akan mengerahkan kekuatan penuh untuk menghadapi Manchester City di babak semifinal Carling Cup. Sejumlah pemain yang tampil buruk saat melawan Leeds, siap disingkirkan.

MU dihadapkan pada kenyataan pahit kala terdepak dari ajang Piala FA. Dan yang lebih buruk lagi, juara Liga Inggris 18 kali ini kalah dari tim divisi League One, Leeds United di babak ketiga.

Melawat ke Stadium of Manchester pada Rabu (6/1/2010) untuk melakoni leg I babak semifinal Piala Carling, MU tak mau kembali salah perhitungan. Sir Alex Ferguson akan meracik skuadnya untuk mendapat formula tim yang lebih baik.

Menurut asisten manajer klub, Mike Phelan dalam laga semifinal nanti Ferguson siap meminggirkan pemain yang dianggap tampil buruk saat melawan Leeds seperti Berbatov, Gary Neville, Anderson, Gabriel Obertan, Danny Welbeck, Fabio da Silva dan Darron Gibson.

"Kami akan mulai untuk memikirkan sedikit berbeda dengan pilihan kami untuk hari Rabu mendatang (melawan City)," terang Phelan seperti dikutip dari The Sun.

"Menurut saya tidak perlu ada satu posisi tertentu yang harus disalahkan saat melawan Leeds. Kami memiliki para pemain yang bermain untuk Manchester United dan mereka tidak tampil seperti yang diharapkan," lanjut dia.

Sementara itu harian Telegraph memberitakan Michael Owen kemungkinan akan diturunkan untuk menggantikan Berba. Sedangkan Valencia, Giggs, Darren Fletcher dan Paul Scholes siap dipasang. Meski begitu, MU masih akan bermain tanpa Nemanja Vidic yang absen di laga melawan Leeds lantaran mengalami penjepitan syaraf.

Kemenangan atas City tidak hanya akan membuat kans The Red Devils mempetahankan Carling Cup semakin lebar. Namun juga dapat memulihkan kondisi psikologis tim.

"Semoga, yang terburuk telah usai dan kami bisa kembali ke stabilitas di lini belakang dan sekali kami melakukannya, saya yakin kami akan dapat berhasil. United’s FA Cup third round exit at the hands of Leeds was something of a false start in 2010, but midfielder Michael Carrick says the targets remain the same: to win silverware.

The number one priority is the title – a fourth league triumph in a row, no less – with success in the Champions League and Carling Cup not far behind.

“Our first aim in 2010 is to win the league again,” says Carrick. “It’s always been the first thing we’ve set out to do and to win four in a row would be amazing. Then there’s the Champions League. Given how tough it is to be successful, our record over the last few years has been very good. We also want to do well in the Carling Cup. We want to get our hands on as much as possible.”

The season is past the halfway point, a stage of the campaign that players like Carrick - who has only known title success since arriving in summer 2006 - has come to relish. “It gets earlier each year!” he added. “This season has been strange with some odd results. But it's a vital time, the manager has stressed that to us, although most of us have been here before. We know how important it is. It's always three more vital points or the next round of a cup, so every game becomes more important.”




Ben Foster missed United's festive fixtures with a bad back and flu, but the Reds keeper is keen to provide a helping hand in United's attempt to reach Wembley in the Carling Cup.

The Reds travel to Eastlands on Tuesday 19 January for the rearranged semi-final first leg tie with Manchester City - the original date this Wednesday, of course, has been postponed due to bad weather. The second leg takes place on 27 January at Old Trafford, and Foster hopes to be fit and involved.

“As well as some important league games, we’ve got big cup matches coming up against City,” says Ben. “Like the fans, the lads are really looking forward to it.”

Foster played in the dramatic 4-3 derby win in September, which has whetted the appetite for these cup clashes. However, the England stopper remains unsure what impact that result will have, particularly with new City boss Roberto Mancini providing a fresh start after Mark Hughes' reign.

“People will talk about that game in the build-up, but I’m not sure how much bearing it’ll have on the tie. That result will have hurt City and they'll want revenge, but the bottom line is City always want to beat us, and we want to beat them! We’d love to go to a final again because we want to defend the trophy, and getting to Wembley gives everyone a boost.”

Foster tasted success last term in this competition and is keen to experience it again, even if Tomasz Kuszczak has edged in front in the current pecking order. “I’d like to play my part,” he said. “I was lucky enough to play at Wembley last year and I’d love to do it again. Tomasz has come in and done really well, but hopefully I’ll get a few games soon.”

Manchester United may have never lost a Premier League game to Birmingham, but boss Sir Alex Ferguson could be forgiven for casting envious glances at Alex McLeish in the home dug-out.

After resting a couple of players in the FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest, McLeish looks set to field an unchanged side for the ninth league match in a row.

Manchester United have put England international goalkeeper Ben Foster up for sale as first choice Edwin van der Sar prepares to return to action after taking time off to nurse his wife.

Premier League clubs looking for a new keeper have been told it will take £4million to land World Cup hopeful Foster, whose relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson soured after a dressing-room row following the home game against Sunderland in October.

Foster's impending departure signals the start of a major shake-up at Old Trafford, prompted by last weekend's FA Cup flop against Leeds United.

With Ferguson no longer able to shop at the top end of the market, he has targeted West Ham's £6m midfielder Valon Behrami to add creativity and is looking at Brazilian defender Joao Miranda of Sao Paulo as a long-term replacement for Nemanja Vidic.

Anderson and Nani will also be allowed to go at the right price and a summer move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema cannot be ruled out if Ferguson can find a buyer for Dimitar Berbatov.

The decision to sell 26-year-old Foster marks a huge decline in fortunes for someone hailed as the future of English goalkeeping by Ferguson earlier this season.

But a series of mistakes culminating in a couple of blunders in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland have left the United manager convinced Foster has to move clubs to restore his confidence. He has only played for United in one game since - a meaningless Champions League tie against Besiktas.

Foster's departure is likely to be hastened by Van der Sar's return to the club's training ground in Carrington next week. His wife, Annemarie, was released from Leiden University Hospital on Friday night, two weeks after she suffered a stroke.

Van der Sar, who last played for United against Everton on November 21, said: 'Yes, I'm more or less ready to step it up and resume training with Manchester United. In the past week I have trained with my old club, Ajax.'

Meanwhile, Ferguson has turned his attentions to 24-year-old Swiss international Behrami and West Ham's financial situation means they are unlikely to be able to resist a bid.

Ferguson will be allowed to sign players for United this year but will have a tight budget with the club £700m in debt under the ownership of the Glazer family.

Spanish side Atletico Madrid have offered Chelsea Argentine striker Sergio Aguero for £30million, according to a report in the Sunday Express this morning.

Atletico will sell Aguero to Chelsea on the provision that the Premier League leaders will loan back the 21-year-old for the rest of the campaign.

Chelsea have long been linked with Aguero, despite the fact manager Carlo Ancelotti claimed he would not sign anyone in the January transfer window.

Besides Aguero, Chelsea have also been linked with Edin Dezko, Emile Heskey, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Kevin Kuranyi in recent weeks.

Glazers borrow £20 million from the club
Manchester United's owners were today revealed to have borrowed millions from the club at favourable rates.

The controversial financing arrangement will anger supporters who have already voiced opposition to the Glazer family's ownership.

The club's financial results revealed yesterday that more than £20 million had gone in to the personal coffers of the Americans since they took over in 2005. This included £10 million in "management and administration fees," plus a further £10 million borrowed by six family members which does not have to be repaid for five years.

Concern has swelled about the effect the American’s management has had on Manchester United's purchasing power. Little relief was given by the manager's plea last week that he had money available, but no targets to spend it on.

United’s controversial owners announced yesterday their intention to raise £600 million pounds through a bond issue. The scheme is designed to cut the current rates of interest being paid out on the club's £699 million debt and put back the repayment date from 2013 to 2017.

At the same time, the Premier League champions announced pre-tax profits for the year to June 30th 2009 of £48.2 million. The report also announced that turnover for this period was £91.3 million, up from £80.4 million the previous year.

Included in these figures was the crippling £41.9 million paid out in interest on the £509.5 million loan used by the Glazers to buy the club in 2005 and the £80 million recouped from Cristiano Ronaldo’s sale to Real Madrid.

The failure to re-invest more than a quarter of Ronaldo’s fee has led to accusations that the Scot’s hands are being tied in the market.

Reports today further hinted in a nightmare scenario for all United supporters that star man Wayne Rooney could be sold in the summer to balance the books again.



David Bick has more than a decade's worth of experience in corporate finance in football. He played a key advisory role in massive Premier League deals ranging from Randy Lerner's takeover of Aston Villa to Thaksin Shinawatra's successful bid to buy Manchester City.

The leading football broker expressed scepticism that the revised terms would grant Ferguson the freedom to match the economic might of big spending rivals Manchester City and Chelsea.

“I doubt that [Sir Alex] Ferguson will see the benefit of this deal as the figure is so low. It will not have a material impact [in regards to future player sales and acquisitions] and doesn’t alter the fundamental cash generation of the business,” he said.

“I would be surprised if it [bond issue] was worth more than about £10 million [a year]. It is unlikely to make any difference to the net funds available to the manager.

“When you look at the interest charge implied, [Manchester] United are currently paying an overall [interest] rate of about eight per cent. I would not expect this to move too far in re-negotiations.

“To be honest, the purse strings have been tight since the Glazer’s took over. In effect, he has been able to make only one significant purchase [of a player] worth £25-30 million a year and that’s it.

“He doesn’t have the same freedom as Chelsea and Manchester City have. This will not change with the bond issue.”

Liverpool owner Tom Hicks took a swipe at rival Manchester United in an email to a supporter yesterday.

"Our debt is very manageable (see Man U)," he wrote.

"We never use player sales for debt service. Our interest on £200 million is about £16 million."

But Carrington, the state of the art *complex that opened in 2000 to replace Manchester United's old training ground The Cliff, is specifically exempted.

"The Carrington training ground will not be encumbered and may in due course be transferred to a holding company or affiliate of the Parent. In the latter event, we will be granted a lease in respect of the Carrington training ground," said the offer document in a section describing Manchester United's business and assets.

The club currently own the freehold on Carrington and the idea of one of the assets most readily associated with them being transferred to the Glazers' own holding company, and potentially sold, will cause further disquiet among fans concerned that money continues to flow out of Old Trafford despite consistent success on the pitch.

The prospect of the club losing the training ground has disturbing echoes of Leeds United, who during their financial collapse were forced to sell their Thorp Arch training ground and lease it back.

Covering 108 acres near the village from which it takes its name and dubbed "Fortress Carrington" by locals thanks to the high security fences that surround it, the complex contains 14 pitches of varying sizes as well as physiotherapy and rehabilitation areas, restaurants, conference rooms and a TV studio.

Companies undertaking a bond issue are legally bound to list all kinds of potential risks attached to the offer, and the MU Finance plc prospectus contains warnings over everything from the potential impact of Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement to terrorist attacks and the danger of football becoming less popular.

But here too it is made clear that the indenture covering the bond issue's notes "will limit our ability to sell or transfer, but not *prohibit us from selling or transferring, our training ground or our stadium". If either is sold, it says it will enter into a long-term lease "to enable us to have substantially the same access to such property as we currently do".

Representatives of fans' groups that have long opposed the Glazer takeover said that the detail contained in the offer document, including the revelation that the family had taken £22.9m in management fees and loans out of the club, would increase levels of discontent. "People are starting to connect the fact that they are asking us to stump up more in ticket prices and they're not investing in the squad and on top of that they are taking money out for themselves. That is going to make it difficult to get away with another rise," said Duncan Drasdo, chief executive of the Manchester United Supporters' Trust.

The 322-page prospectus, the basis for a bond offer that most experts expect to be priced at around 9%, sets out in great detail the "high degree of risk" involved, together with the Glazers' strategy for continuing to maximise revenues.

Results released this week showed that income from matchday operations, TV contracts and commercial activities continued to rise, contributing to an increase in turnover to £276.8m. But without a £80.7m profit from transfer activities, including the sale of Ronaldo to Real Madrid, the club would have made a substantial loss. It also reveals that United have already received almost half of a new £80m four-year shirt sponsorship deal with Aon upfront, despite it not beginning until next season. It prioritises the targeting of new sponsors in areas not traditionally associated with football as a means of generating further revenue growth.

City sources expect the bond issue to succeed if it is priced and marketed correctly. But there were some dissenting voices yesterday, arguing that the yield from the bond should be closer to 9.5% given the company's profile and questioning the wisdom of investing in an unrated bond in such an uncertain sector.

"Most traditional high-yield investors won't touch this," Jonathan Moore, a high-yield analyst at Evolution Securities told Bloomberg yesterday. "It's unrated, so some investors can't take it, and there's a very busy new-issue calendar so there are plenty of alternatives. Most people just won't focus on something with far too much leverage, limited free cash flow and lumpy earnings."

Results released this week showed that income from matchday operations, TV contracts and commercial activities continued to rise, contributing to an increase in turnover to £276.8m. But without a £80.7m profit from transfer activities, including the sale of Ronaldo to Real Madrid, the club would have made a substantial loss. It also reveals that United have already received almost half of a new £80m four-year shirt sponsorship deal with Aon upfront, despite it not beginning until next season. It prioritises the targeting of new sponsors in areas not traditionally associated with football as a means of generating further revenue growth.

City sources expect the bond issue to succeed if it is priced and marketed correctly. But there were some dissenting voices yesterday, arguing that the yield from the bond should be closer to 9.5% given the company's profile and questioning the wisdom of investing in an unrated bond in such an uncertain sector.

"Most traditional high-yield investors won't touch this," Jonathan Moore, a high-yield analyst at Evolution Securities told Bloomberg yesterday. "It's unrated, so some investors can't take it, and there's a very busy new-issue calendar so there are plenty of alternatives. Most people just won't focus on something with far too much leverage, limited free cash flow and lumpy earnings."

Manchester United's debt-ridden owners the Glazers have for the first time raised the previously unthinkable prospect of selling Old Trafford.

The American family had steadfastly refused to consider such a controversial move since they plunged the club into debt when taking it into private ownership in 2005.

But in the prospectus sent out to potential investors ahead of a £500million bond issue, the Glazers have warned that ‘the indenture governing the Notes (bonds) will limit our ability to sell or transfer, but not prohibit us from selling or transferring our training ground facilities and our stadium.’

The prospectus also reveals that:

The club has none of its own money for new players.

United may have to SELL players to service the debt in the future.

The Glazers may have to refinance AGAIN in the near future.

The club has already drawn down a £36m cash advance on an £80m four-year shirt sponsorship deal that doesn’t begin until the summer.

Fears about Old Trafford will concern fans the most, however, with many suspecting that the Glazers intend to sell and then lease back United’s famous stadium and the state-of-the-art training ground at Carrington.

Ever since the Glazers bought their club, United supporters have suspected that the ground would one day be sold or, at the very least, renamed.

In a section of the prospectus headlined ‘risks related to our debt’, investors are warned: ‘Although in the sale or transfer of any of these properties, the transferee will be required to enter into a long-term lease with us to enable us to continue to have substantially the same access to such property as we currently do, if we sell or transfer either or both of these properties, we will no longer control them.’

It is understood the Glazers are required by law to outline all possible risk to potential investors in the document.

It is also the case that the Carrington training centre is much more likely to be sold as the family have deliberately not secured any of their credit facilities against it, as they have with the stadium.

Nevertheless, industry experts last night stressed that using Old Trafford as security in this latest round of refinancing does not offer the stadium any particular protection against its sale in the future.

As regards Carrington — opened 10 years ago — it appears its future is in genuine doubt as the document reveals it ‘may in due course be transferred to a holding company or affiliate of the Parent. In the latter event, we will be granted a lease’.

Figures show that United have not spent a net penny on player transfers for three years. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to have to dip in to a new £75m credit facility if he is to spend more than he can raise through sales this summer.

MU juga sudah mulai menjual obligasi. Diharapkan, dari penjualan itu akan terkumpul dana 500 juta pounds (sekitar Rp 7,4 triliun). Namun, jikapun dana itu tercapai, maka rencana penjualan Old Trafford tak serta-merta berhenti.

Menurut Daily Mail, MU juga sudah kehabisan uang. Mereka kemungkinan tak bisa membeli pemain, baik pada Januari ini maupun Juni nanti. Bahkan, kemungkinan MU akan kembali menjual beberapa pemain bintangnya.

Kontraknya sebenarnya berakhir awal musim ini, dan United berjanji akan melakukan negosiasi ulang tentang masalah gaji.

Kubu Rooney menginginkan pemibcaraan akan selesai setelah World Cup 2010. Bukan tidak mungkin nilai Rooney akan bertambah tinggi pascaPiala Dunia bila dirinya bermain baik.

Dalam usianya ke 24, Rooney akan mendapatkan gaji terbesar. Penasehat hukumnya menginginkan kontrak selama lima musim dengan bayaran 140 ribu pounds per pekan. 50 ribu lebih tinggi dari kesepakatan saat ini.

Rooney ingin melewati gaji pemain tertinggi yang saat ini dipegang Rio Ferdinand. Bek andalan United itu mendapat bayaran 110 ribu pounds perpekan, sama dengan yang diterika Cristiano Ronaldo sebelum dia hijrah ke Real Madrid.

Rooney dan penasehat hukumnya sadar bahwa nilai lebih tinggi akan diterima bila bergabung dengan Madrid atau Barca. Dua raksasa Spanyol itu siap mengguyur United dengan nilai transfer 70 juta poundsterling.

Financial documents issued this week, alongside the announcement of the Glazers’ plans for a £500 million bond issue, revealed that the family had taken £23 million in personal loans and consultancy fees out of Manchester United since their takeover in 2005.

With supporters now fearing a further rise in ticket prices, MUST and IMUSA are to canvas opinion among United fans prior to Saturday’s Old Trafford clash with Burnley in an effort to formulate a joint approach ultimately aimed at forcing the Glazers to sell the club.

A statement said: “MUST and IMUSA, the two independent democratic fans groups, are inviting all interested Manchester United supporters to a meeting before this Saturday’s game against Burnley to discuss the response to the Glazers’ ownership of Manchester United.

“This has been prompted by the financial news coming from Old Trafford and the revelations made in the brochure issued to sell the bonds that are to be used to refinance the loans.

“The meeting is intended to offer supporters the chance to contribute their ideas and become involved in the campaign. We want ideas and energy.”

United supporters fought a successful battle to thwart BSkyB’s proposed takeover of the club in 1998 before failing to halt the Glazer buyout in 2005.

Despite sources close to the Glazers insisting that the Florida-based family have no intention of selling United, supporters’ groups are keen to devise a plan to force them out of the club.

Saturday’s meeting takes place at O’Brien’s in the Stretford Arndale Centre at 1pm.

MANCHESTER, Jumat, 15/1/2010 | 05:39 WIB — Meski terus sukses dalam beberapa kompetisi, Manchester United ternyata dalam keadaan krisis dan terancam kebangkrutan. Bahkan, Stadion Old Trafford pun kemungkinan akan dijual untuk menutup utang klub.

Saat membeli klub ini pada 2005, keluarga Glazer menyatakan tak mungkin menjual Old Trafford. Namun, kini setelah utang klub mencapai 700 juta pounds (sekitar Rp 10,4 triliun), keluarga Glazer mulai merencanakan penjualan tempat latihan dan stadion.

MU juga sudah mulai menjual obligasi. Diharapkan, dari penjualan itu akan terkumpul dana 500 juta pounds (sekitar Rp 7,4 triliun). Namun, jikapun dana itu tercapai, maka rencana penjualan Old Trafford tak serta-merta berhenti.

Menurut Daily Mail, MU juga sudah kehabisan uang. Mereka kemungkinan tak bisa membeli pemain, baik pada Januari ini maupun Juni nanti. Bahkan, kemungkinan MU akan kembali menjual beberapa pemain bintangnya.

Manchester - Manchester United mendapat kabar baik menjelang pertarungannya melawan Burnley akhir pekan ini. Sebabnya, Edwin van der Sar dan Rio Ferdinand tampaknya siap merumput.

Van Der Sar dan Ferdinand punya kans bagus untuk bermain saat The Red Devils menjamu Burnley dalam lanjutan Liga Primer Inggris di Old Trafford, Sabtu (16/1/2010).

Van Der Sar absen dari pasukan MU sejak akhir tahun 2009 kemarin. Kiper 39 tahun itu harus kembali ke Belanda karena mendampingi istrinya yang mengalami pendarahan otak dan harus menjalani operasi. Tapi kini Van Der Sar telah kembali ke tim dan hal itu menyenangkan Fergie.

"Kami akhirnya melihat cahaya di ujung terowongan dalam latihan pekan ini karena Edwin van der Sar telah kembali berlatih," girang Fergie seperti yang dikutip AFP.

"Kondisinya bagus. Dia pergi beberapa pekan untuk urusan pribadi, tapi menyenangkan melihatnya kembali. Saat dia telah kembali, hal itu menjadi penting buat kami," imbuhnya.

Sementara, Ferdinand juga berangsur-angsur pulih dari cedera lututnya dan bek 31 tahun itu siap untuk menjaga lini belakang MU kembali setelah terakhir kali tampil saat 'Setan Merah' dipecundangi Liverpool, Oktober lalu.

Selain Van Der Sar dan Ferdinand, Ferguson juga mendapat kabar apik selama menggelar latihan di Qatar, yakni mulai pulihnya gelandang Owen Hargreaves dari cedera radang lutut yang telah membuatnya absen 16 bulan.

"Kami membawa Ferdinand dan Hargreaves (ke kamp latihan di Qatar) dan keduanya ambil bagian dalam latihan. Ada perkembangan bagus, khususnya buat Rio yang perkembangannya menggembirakan," paparnya.

Kehadiran Van Der Sar dan Ferdinand diharapkan akan mengokohkan lini belakang MU yang belakangan ini goyah. Tanpa kehadiran keduanya, MU terlalu sering kebobolan dan akibatnya hasil yang mereka raih pun tidak konsisten.

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Manajer Manchester United (MU), Sir Alex Ferguson, memang sudah pernah menyatakan akan pensiun pada usia 70 tahun. Kini dia sudah 68 tahun dan masa kerjanya tinggal dua tahun lagi. MU dikabarkan sudah menyiapkan pengganti terbaik dan dia adalah pelatih Barcelona, Pep Guardiola.

Menurut News of the World, setelah sukses Ferguson, banyak yang khawatir MU akan menurun sepeninggalannya. Maka, pelatih penggantinya harus berkualitas. Guardiola dianggap pemain yang pantas untuk mengisi posisi bergengsi itu.

Apalagi, musim lalu dia membawa sukses besar buat Barcelona. Selain mempersembahkan gelar Divisi Primera, Copa del Rey, dan Liga Champions, Guardiola juga membawa "El Barca" juara Piala Super Spanyol, Piala Super Eropa, dan FIFA Club World Cup.

Usul Mengejutkan dari Fans MU

Liputan6.com, Manchester: Sebelum berlangsungnya laga lanjutan kompetisi premiership antara Manchester United versus Burnley di Old Trafford, Sabtu (16/1), sejumlah pendukung The Red Devils yang tergabung dalam The Manchester United Supporters’ Trust menggelar pertemuan. Agenda pembicaraan tunggal: menyusun rencana untuk mendepak keluarga Malcolm Glazer yang notabene owner klub. Dalam pertemuan tersebut, terungkap pula ide untuk meminta bantuan legenda Old Trafford, Eric “King” Cantona dan gagasan melakukan protes keras kepada keluarga Glazer ketika MU bertanding melawan AC Milan di babak 16 besar Liga Champions, 10 Maret mendatang.

Sekitar lebih dari 300 fans menghadiri pertemuan tersebut. Johnny Flacks, anggota pendiri dan mantan Chairman Independent MU Supporters’ Association menyodorkan proposal berbentuk surat permintaan kepada Sir Alex Ferguson untuk secepatnya mengundurkan diri dari kedudukannya sebagai manajer tim. “Hal itu bukan dimaksudkan sebagai upaya menggembor-gemborkan Alex Ferguson,” tegas Flacks seperti yang dikutip The Guardian.

“Tetapi, ia sendiri yang mengklaim dirinya sebagai sosok sosialis. Jadi, ia tentunya ngeri dengan apa yang sedang terjadi. Permintaan ini hanya bisa berjalan andaikata ribuan fans mengirimkan kopi surat ini kepada Ferguson sebagai upaya agar ia tahu betul dengan apa yang kami cemaskan, yaitu jika keluarga Glazer tetap mengendalikan klub, apa yang ia (Ferguson) wariskan bakal rusak. Kami tidak ingin itu terjadi dan kami pun sangat yakin ia pun bersikap seperti kami,” imbuhnya.

Awalnya, Ferguson mendukung langkah keluarga Glazer yang mengambil alih kepemilikan klub pada Mei 2005. Namun, perlahan sikap Ferguson mulai berubah melihat dominasi Glazer yang belakangan menerapkan kebijakan finansial yang ketat. Hal ini tidak lepas dari besarnya utang klub yang mencapai 700 juta pound (sekitar Rp 10,5 triliun). Karena itulah, muncul spekulasi jika Glazer mulai menimbang menjual Old Trafford dan kamp latihan klub di Carrington plus mencari pinjaman segar sejumlah 500 juta pound dari penerbitan saham obligasi.

Muncul kekhawatiran jika proposal pensiun dini Ferguson tersebut justru akan memicu penolakan dari para fans MU mengingat begitu sentralnya figur manajer berkebangsaan Skotlandia berusia 68 tahun itu yang dipandang sebagai manajer tim tersukses sepanjang masa.

“Tidak benar seperti itu. Kami membicarakan sosok seorang manajer yang begitu banyak memberikan kontribusi (gelar) kepada klub dan berjasa membuat klub menjadi monster yang bernama Manchester United. Akan tetapi, kami harus memandang jauh ke depan. Saat ini, situasinya semakin gila, dimana klub yang selalu menghadirkan 70 ribu suporter di setiap pertandingan justru bakal bangkrut,” tandas Flacks.

Dalam benak Flacks, makin cepat Ferguson menanggalkan jabatannya, maka kian cepat pula investor baru datang ke Old Trafford untuk mengambil alih kepemilikan klub dari tangan keluarga Glazer. “Kami kira ia (Ferguson) tetap akan bersama klub dalam jangka waktu yang panjang andaikata itu dapat memicu penjualan saham Glazer. Andaikata ia memutuskan bakal pensiun dini, boleh jadi hal itu justru menambah minat para investor (untuk membeli saham klub).”

Flacks pun tak bisa membayangkan jika langkah Glazer yang berniat menjual Carrington dan balik meminjamkannya kepada klub menjadi kenyataan. “Pindah ke Carrington merupakan mimpi bagi Ferguson. Nah, sekarang Glazer mulai berpikir menjual Carrington dan balik menyewakannya kepada klub. Jika itu terjadi, MU tidak lebih baik dari klub amatir yang tidak mempunyai tempat latihan sendiri,” ujar Flacks berapi-api.

Rencana protes terhadap eksistensi Glazer ala sejumlah fans MU di laga lawan Rossoneri, 10 Maret mendatang, bakal dilakukan dengan cara mengosongkan stadion sampai lima atau 10 menit sebelum kick-off babak pertama dibunyikan. 'The Glazers' Tawari Pemain Untuk Ikut Berinvestasi

Keluarga Glazer mulai mencari cara baru dalam menutupi hutang Manchester United mereka. Meminjam puluhan juta dolar dari pemain -literally.

Bintang-bintang United sempat terkejut saat pulang dari pelatihan di Qatar dan diberikan sebuah handout dari pihak manajemen.

Handout ini berisi proposal, yang meminta para pemain untuk ikut berpartisipasi, bersama para Glazer yang sedang kesulitan mencari 500 Juta Pound untuk memperbaiki finansial klub mereka. Thanks to their huge debt.

Dan tidak hanya para pemain yang bergaji puluhan hingga ratusan ribu pound per pekan saja. Bahkan staff dengan gaji yang jauh di bawah mereka sekalipun diberikan 'kesempatan' oleh The Glazers untuk ikut ber-investasi dalam klub.

Salah seorang sumber di dalam United menyatakan,

"Para pemain sama sekali tidak tahu apa yang harus mereka lakukan dengan itu sebenarnya"

"Sebagian besar menganggap ini konyol karena pada dasarnya orang-orang yang membayar gaji mereka mencoba melihat apakah mereka bisa mendapatkan kembali apa yangf sudah mereka keluarkan"

United dikabarkan menawarkan investor keuntungan 7 persen setiap tahunnya. Dan tawaran ini mulai dari 50.000 Pound per blocknya.

Tapi para ahli menyatakan keuntungan ini masih belum pasti. Dan masih sangat tergantung pada prestasi klub di lapangan pada masa yang akan datang.

"Ada banyak orang yang bekerja di Old Trafford untuk waktu yang lama. Dengan gaji yang rendah, khawatir dengan masa depan mereka"

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Kapten Manchester United (MU), Gary Neville terancam sanksi dari Federasi Sepak Bola Inggris (FA), gara-gara mengacungkan jari tengah kepada penyerang Manchester City, Carlos Tevez, di leg pertama semifinal Piala Carling, Selasa (19/1/2010). FA sedang mempelajari rekaman video pertandingan tersebut.

Secara pribadi, kedua pemain ini sebetulnya tak memiliki konflik. Bahwa kemudian Neville menunjukkan sikap tidak suka kepada Tevez, itu merupakan dampak kegagalan MU mempertahankan Tevez, sehingga ia pindah ke City, akhir musim ini.

Di City, Tevez tumbuh menjadi pemain berbahaya. Selain jago mengeksekusi bola, Tevez juga memiliki umpan akurat dan visi permainan cerdas. Ini membuat sejumlah kalangan menilai MU telah salah membuang Tevez.

Ketika merayakan gol itu, Tevez mengangkat mengarahkan pandangannya kepada Neville di pinggir lapangan sambil melakukan gerakan mengembangkan dan mengatupkan jari tangan kepada Neville, untuk mengatakan "berhentilah bicara". Neville menjawab gerakan tangan Tevez dengan mengacungkan jari tengah.
