Dulu gw punya anggapan lagu dugem itu tidak berseni. Setelah mendengarkan Plastic Operator anggapan ini langsung luntur. Band yang mengusung aliran Electro/Dance ini memang tidak banyak dikenal orang tapi soal kualitas... saya bahkan lebih suka mereka daripada sebagian besar lagu dari DJ top. Lagu yang gw upload ini adalah lagu favorit dari band ini yaitu Another Sound

Plastic Operator are the perfect pop group for our times. Internationally minded, technically savvy and most importantly blessed with the ability to sculpt sublimely soulful pop moments from raw digital clay, Plastic Operator may exist in a parallel space to the tired pop pap in the Top 10, but what a wonderful space it is.

Mathieu Gendreau (electronics) & Pieter Van Dessel (vocals / electronics) are Plastic Operator. Respectively hailing from Montreal and Antwerp, the pair met at London's Westminster University in 2001 where they were both studying audio production. Bonding over a shared love of two decades of fine electronic and indie music the pair began to make sweet music together.

When the course finished Pieter returned to Antwerp to work on sound design films and play in a few bands, and Mathieu remained in London to work as a sound engineer and producer, working with a broad cross-section of the UK's musical talent. The pair kept up their collaborative efforts over the internet, meeting face to face in either London or Antwerp once a month.

In 2004, their efforts came to fruition when then the pair released their debut three track CD through a handful of record shops, with Rough Trade making it their CD of the week. Once the tracks were out there in the public domain, things accelerated at a pace no-one could have predicted. The lead track from the CD, 'Folder', had been posted on a web blog, and within weeks Plastic Operator were receiving emails from fans in New York, Mexico City and Bangkok enquiring about the group. Radio stations as far apart as California, New Zealand and Tijuana began championing the song. In London Radio 1's Rob Da Bank began playing the track on his Blue Room show, eventually signing the track to his Sunday Best label.

Already picking up admirers from its inclusion on Rob's latest Sunday Best compilation, 'Folder' was released as a single in its own right in November 2005. Featuring loving remixes from a range of Sunday Best friends and family (namely Subway, Styrofoam and Shepherds) this is sure to see the pleasures of Plastic Operator become apparent to an even broader audience.

Pieter & Mathieu have just released their debut album 'Different Places' in 2007 on Fine Day Records. The album triggered raving reviews across the world and the singles 'Peppermint', 'Why Don't You?' and 'Home 0207' spent weeks and months on the playlist of radio stations such as Studio Brussels, FM Brussels, KCRW... Many Plastic Operator songs are now hitting the dance-floor with remixes provided by creative masterminds Jesse Rose, Speaker Junk, Hermanos Inglesos, Wax Stag, Chewy Chocolate Cookies and the likes.

2007 and 2008 saw Plastic Operator take their music to the stage. Their dynamic live rendition of the album made crowds dance in many major clubs and parties across Europe: from the Bestival Festival on Isle of Wight, to Paris Fashion Week, Culture Club in Ghent, La Fleche D'Or in Paris, Petrol Club in Antwerp and Razzmatazz Club in Barcelona.

Dylan Mondegreen is Norwegian singer and songwriter Børge Sildnes. His debut album While I Walk You Home was released in his native country 17th September 2007. The second single from the album, Girl in Grass, reached #74 on the Norwegian radio charts, mainly due to heavy rotation on NRK P3. [1] said about the song: "Indie-pop has entered its soft-rock phase, and... it sounds pretty good." In 2008, Mondegreen performed at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK.

A new album will be released in 2009.

Buat yang suka nonton film Hollywood pastinya tau Emmy Rossum, dia udah main film di the Day after Tomorrow, Phantom of The Opera. Di album perdananya yang berjudul "Inside Out" ia mengusung aliran pop-semi classical dan mengandalkan "Slow Me Down" sebagai lagu promonya. Menurut saya cewe ini cukup berbakat di bidang musik berhubung banyak lagunya yang ia ciptakan sendiri juga dan suaranya juga 'berpotensi'.

Bedanya kalo indie itu album bisa buat suka2 gak ada yang ngatur tapi peredaran albumnya gak didukung korporat besar makanya indie itu kebanyakan limited, bahkan ada juga tipe indie yang artistnya sendiri ngedarin sendiri karyanya.

Kalo major ya semua tau itu band/artist pasti diatur sama labelnya dia lagu harus model gimana, gak boleh terlalu gimana... istilahnya kebebasan berkaryanya dibatasi. Tapi dari segi promosi, peredaran album, tour, dsb dsb pasti dukungannya lebih kuat...

Istilahnya kalo indie itu masalah 'ideologi', sedangkan major itu masalah 'bisnis':hihi:

Makanya banyak indie yang cenderung 'gila' lagu2nya berhubung mereka bebas bikin lagu macam apa:haha:

The Thrills are an Irish indie rock band, formed in 2001 in Dublin. They Live by Night are Christofer Byström, Joel Sjöö and Martin Andersson. The group formed in Gothenburg in late 2004. Club 8 is a Swedish musical group consisting of Karolina Komstedt (from the band Poprace) and Johan Angergård (Acid House Kings, Poprace). Formed in 1995, they were immediately signed to the Spanish record label Siesta. Hot Hot Heat are an indie-rock band from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. They formed in 1999 as a synthpunk band with Matt Marnik, who eventually left the band, on lead vocals. Steve Bays (vocals and keyboards) took over lead vocals, significantly changing the band’s sound. The rest of the band is currently composed of Paul Hawley (drums), Dustin Hawthorne (bass), and Luke Paquin (guitar). Paquin has recently replaced former guitarist, Dante DeCaro. The band’s name was contrived by drummer Paul Hawley.

Their first full-length CD was Scenes One Through Thirteen (2001) which comprised all of the three prior EPs released to that point. Spring of 2002 saw the band releasing another EP entitled Knock Knock Knock. Also that same year the band entered the studio to record their second full length major label debut for Sub-Pop Records, entitled Make Up The Breakdown, which broke them into the greater consciousness of music culture. MUTBD grasped the attention of Sire Records and they moved to the major label. Shortly after the move, the band released their first music video, Bandages, which got air play on channels such at MTV.

In 2005, the band released their second album, Elevator, on Sire Records. This was a critical time in the band’s history because Dante DeCaro (guitar) decided to leave the band. As one of the innovators of Hot Hot Heat’s sound, the band considered breaking up. Wanting to continue the band, Luke Paquin was to be DeCaro’s replacment. Although Elevator was recorded with DeCaro, Paquin is featured on the album art.

I’m from Barcelona is a pop group from Jönköping, Sweden, best known for its 30 band members and eclectic mix of instruments such as clarinets, saxophones, flutes, trumpets, banjos, accordions, kazoos, guitars, drums, and keyboards among others. Sambassadeur is a Swedish indie pop band signed to Labrador Records.

Sambassadeur from Göteborg started out in the small town of Skövde in the autumn 2003 where Joachim, Daniel P, and Anna found themselves studying. The three sambassadeurs got together as they found out that their taste in music were quite the same. The band of Sambassadeur began one night at Joachim’s small apartment where Daniel and Joachim had got together for recording a song. Despite the fact that they were too shy to even look at each other when first playing their songs, the short session resulted in the recording of the song “There you go”.

Later that autumn, Daniel T, a friend of Joachim from Göteborg, joined the band and the days of searching for a bass player were over. After realizing the band having three shows coming up in the spring, Sambassadeur decided to actually start rehearsing. The first show took place at Klubb Mono at Bommens Salonger in Göteborg, and afterwards the band realized their line up with three guitars, one bass, two singers and a cd taking care of the beats actually was working. Now all of the sambassadeurs are living in Göteborg and after releasing two cd-r´s on their own and a 7” single at Dolores recordings, they have found their home on Labrador.

Acid House Kings is a Swedish indie pop band, founded in 1991 by Joakim Ödlund (also in the bands Poprace, Double Dan, and Starlet) and brothers Niklas Angergård (Red Sleeping Beauty) and Johan Angergård (Club 8, The Legends, Poprace). Ingrid Michaelson is an American singer-songwriter.

New York-based Michaelson’s parents were both artists (composer Carl Michaelson and sculptor Elizabeth Egbert Director). Swedish indie singer/songwriter, Hello Saferide is actually Annika Norlin, born in Östersund, Sweden, now living in Stockholm.

With a warm voice and beautiful melodies she made a slight breakthrough in 2005 with the single PlayMy Best Friend. Being a music journalist, it came to great surprise to Norlin when her songs attracted the attention of indie label Razza Records. After the release of Introducing… Hello Saferide, Norlin assembled a band and played around the world.

In the beginning of 2007 she released an album with lyrics in Swedish, this time under the name Säkert!. The music differs a bit from the music of Hello Saferide.

“The missing link between Jeff Buckley and Justin Timberlake” - Will Rees, Running Jump Records

Born 1984, Jack Peñate is a singer/songwriter from Blackheath in South London. He is the grandson of Mervyn Peake, author and illustrator of The Gormenghast Trilogy.

Along with the likes of Lily Allen, Jamie T, Kate Nash, Adele, etc, he is often included in the “Estuary English” pack of UK musicians - the 2006/2007 UK trend of young musicians singing without consciously altering their spoken English accent. (Esurary English being the accent commonly found around the south east of England, most notably in London , considered a compromise between Cockney and RP)

At 17 he started the band Jack’s Basement with his friend Felix White. The band split in two, one half going on to form The Maccabees, the other forming Jack Peñate’s band, including Joel Porter (bass) and Alex Robins (drums). Having started a Classics degree at UCL he hooked up with London indie club and label, Young Turks and his studies were dropped in favour of a music career.

In autumn 2006, Peñate signed to XL Recordings who delivered main-stream success with the release of his debut album Matinée.

His eclectic mix of styles incorporates elements of his varied influences which range from rockabilly and folk to jazz and trip-hop. He lists Prince, Jeff Buckley, Shuggie Otis, Todd Rundgren, JJ Cale, Harry Nillson and Herbie Hancock among his influences. Yet he delivers a genuine London voice and still manages to sound original.

Ronald Eldon (Ron) Sexsmith (born 1964) is a Canadian singer-songwriter from St. Catharines, Ontario, currently based in Toronto. He is known as a songwriter’s songwriter, with a gift for melody, insightful and understated lyrics, and an expressive, affecting voice.

Sexsmith started his first band at 14. After moving to Toronto he formed the Uncool and released his cassette Out of the Duff, and a year later, There’s a Way. Meanwhile, he worked as a courier, and released Grand Opera Lane in 1991. On the strength of this album he earned a contract which led to the self-titled album Ron Sexsmith of 1995. Between 1997 and 2001, Sexsmith released three more albums before the acclaimed Cobblestone Runway in 2002.

In 2005, he released a collection of songs recorded with drummer Don Kerr during the production of Retriever, called Destination Unknown. The same year, he also won a Juno Award for songwriter of the year, for the song “PlayWhatever It Takes”.

The Apples in Stereo is an indie pop band, from Denver, Colorado, co-originators of the innovative Elephant 6 Collective, a group of bands that initially included Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control but also includes Elf Power, The Minders and Beulah.

The Apples in Stereo currently consist of Eric Allen (bass), John Hill (rhythm guitar), John Ferguson, Bill Doss and their new drummer as of 2006, John Dufilho, while lead singer/guitarist Robert Schneider writes the most of the band’s music and lyrics. Maia Hirasawa is part of the band playing with Hello Saferide. She also writes and performes her own songs.

In March 2007 she released the single And I Found This Boy which got played well on radio. She released her solo debut, Though, I’m Just Me in April 2007.

In June, 2007, she released a new single called Gothenburg. In June she also got to perform in front of a very big audience at this year’s opening of the popular and legendary sing-along show Allsång På Skansen.

Hello Saferide itu alias, anggota 'resmi'nya cuma 1 orang (sama kaya Five For Fighting, Aqualung, Dylan Mondegreen, dsb... mereka ga pake nama asli buat bermusik). Nama aslinya dia Annika Norlin. Dia juga punya nama lain yaitu Sakert! yg dipake buat ngeluarin lagu2 berbahasa swedia.
